Conserving, Recycling and Reforesting Resources

Incorporating recycled materials and creating production processes that conserve resources are some of the steps taken to reduce our environmental footprint. Waste reduction and in-house recycling programs extend across the company while specific manufacturing processes (such as the liquor recovery process) have been implemented to assist in reducing our carbon footprint. Glatfelter is also committed to reforestation by providing forest management services and quality timber harvests.

The advantages of our integrated mills include the reuse of pulping chemicals and the use of biomass to generate steam to make electricity and power our production processes. Paper recycling is widely practiced, as a selection of Glatfelter’s book papers, envelope papers and carbonless papers are made from post-consumer waste.
