ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an international standard that outlines the planning and operational elements of an Environmental Management System (EMS) and requirements for review and improvement. The ISO 14001 environmental management standard exists to help organizations minimize their impact on the environment, comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, and to continually improve.

Glatfelter’s environmental initiatives achieved national recognition in 1999 when the facility in Spring Grove, PA, became the first pulp and paper mill in the United States to receive ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.

Glatfelter’s ISO 14001 third-party certified environmental management system drives a process of continual environmental improvement by:
  • Requiring all new projects and grades of paper to pass an environmental review to ensure they do not negatively impact the environment
  • Driving environmental improvements beyond those required to comply with laws and regulations
  • Making each and every employee responsible for the environment

Below is a list of ISO 14001 certified Glatfelter facilities, as well as those that are working towards certification.
