<div class=WordSection1>• The Manager, Quality Assurance Mill works under the general direction of the Manager of Quality Assurance and Process Engineering, receiving from him overall guidance and direction in objectives and plans.  The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the establishment and maintenance of quality standards and tolerances and consulting and advising during paper manufacturing and subsequent processes to determine continuation of manufacturing, converting or finishing;</div>
<div class=WordSection1><br>• The incumbent directly supervises all exempt Quality Supervisors in providing quality control services;</div>
<div class=WordSection1><br>• The incumbent makes final determination of quality of paper in any quantity which could result in claims of considerable amount, not only for paper, but for damaged machinery and downtime on the part of customers, and even loss of the customer.   Recommends corrective action to production supervision concerning equipment running off-quality products;</div>

<div>To effectively supervise, on the assigned shift, the timely and economical production of the Company’s products in accordance with established quality standards and customer specifications.  This requires:</div>

<div>• Supervise the effective training of people, assigning work, counseling, appraising, transferring, and providing disciplinary action, as necessary within provisions of formal agreements between management and recognized employee bargaining groups;<br>• Insuring good housekeeping and safety practices are followed throughout the operation;<br>• Participation in supervisory, safety and other appropriate meetings where subjects such as safety, quality, and other related operational problems are discussed;<br>• Inspecting operations, assuring that equipment is in proper operating condition, and that established production standards are satisfied;<br>• Monitoring and adjusting operations to satisfy customer expectations;<br>• Required to work diverse hours, including the Southern Swing schedule.  This includes all shifts, weekends, and holidays, as well as 12+ hour shifts;<br>• Participating in team efforts to achieve mill-wide goals;<br>• Review operations continually to introduce methods or procedures which will achieve economics in operations or quality improvement;<br>• Coordinate crew work schedules, handle all aspects of insuring the equipment is properly staffed, as well as monitor and manage timekeeping for the employees on #10 Paper Machine.</div>

<div>• Directly supervise the quality control lab inspectors throughout Ohio Operations, including training, scheduling, and issue resolution;<br>• Establish and maintain standards, tolerances, and testing procedures for all grades produced in the operation.  Use lean tools to determine process capability to meet customer specifications for new orders or grades;<br>• Make final determination of paper quality to assure that it meets customer specifications.  Review production data adherence to customer specifications;<br>• Provide accurate quality information and recommendations concerning various paper grades to operational supervision.  Create quality reports to support mill-wide quality or yield initiatives.  Recommend ways to improve product quality or procedures;<br>• Maintain liaison with sales, field services, production planning, and customers concerning product performance criteria.  Review customer complaints to determine root cause and justification. Visit customer locations for issue resolution or new product trial support;<br>• Help manage department budget and expenditures.  Provide support for capital requests for new equipment justification.  Participate in area cost-out or continuous improvement initiatives;<br>• Provide leadership in troubleshooting and preventing quality upsets that lead to significant yield losses or customer claims.</div>
