Buyer
Located in Madison, Tennessee, Glatfelter is seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for raw materials/packaging, and continuous improvement. This role collaborates closely with Sourcing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and External Suppliers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans raw material/packaging usage against firmed production schedule and perpetually re-plans inbound deliveries based on production schedule changes.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers, develop and implement supplier agreements.
- Creates and/or modifies purchase information records.
- Creates and/or modifies purchases orders directly and indirectly.
- Reviews, modifies (if applicable) and approves new materials set-ups.
- Reviews and updates all pricing for all direct and indirect via the PIR.
- Tracks daily inbound deliveries and follows up with suppliers.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Request Return Authorizations and credit memos and track.
- Verifies all new supplier requests and works on setting them up with Finance.
- Project raw Material, Packaging and Chemical inventory balances to meet monthly, quarterly, and year end targets.
- Accountable for achieving Key Performance Indicators related to raw materials, Chemicals and packaging Inventory and/spend.
- Attends Quality Meetings to report on raw material/packaging Delivery Performance metrics.
- Administers raw material/packaging year inventory counts and prepares reconciliations for write-on/write-offs.
- Team player – give and receive feedback.
- Performs all tasks in a safe manner, complies with all safety rules including confined spaced entry. Identifies and reports unsafe operations to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow all company policies.
- Attends all training classes that are scheduled for the buyer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of educations and experience.
- 3 plus years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP software designed for manufacturing.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of details and systems.
- Adaptable individuals seeking growth.
Working Environment:
- 20% Standing/Walking
- 80% Office
Physical Demands:
- Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
- Overtime as required.
