Environmental Health and Sustainability Manager


  • Serves as the site(s) owner for environment and sustainability activities as well as global health issues (KTM = Key Topical Matters)
  • Responsible for managing, filing, and reporting compliance efforts as it relates to key site permits including: SPCCC, SWPP, Synthetic Minor Air Permit, Multi-Sector Permit, DMR, Haz Com, Waste, Sewar discharge and other applicable environmental and sustainability permits and registrations.
  • Seek, receive and react to concerns, issues, complaints, incidents and inquiries relating to KTMs.
  • Develop, coordinate and ensure all required and critical training for KTMs are properly managed.
  • Manage and publish timely, compliant, and proactive communications relative to KTMs.
  • Lead site Sustainability Team: Reduce GHG, loads to landfill, improve recycling programs, lower utilities/MT made.
  • Lead site Environmental Team: Responsible for environmental permits, licenses, avoidance of NOVs, citations.
  • Develop, maintain and train on site SOPs, policies, and guidelines relative to KTMs.
  • Lead any site/company initiatives toward registrations or certifications regarding FSC, sustainability, etc.
  • Develops and leads internal auditing, inspection and site assessments relative to KTMs.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or related technical field.
    • Minimum 5 years industrial/manufacturing experience in environmental role.
    • Experience reviewing, management submitting site permits (air, water, waste, etc).
    • Experience in nonwovens, films, paper or roll goods manufacturing.
    • Experience with sustainability programs.
    • Experience with water filter plants and site-specific permits.


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Environmental or chemical Engineering or related from a four year college or university.


  • Ability to develop and lead effective training programs and sessions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write policies, procedures, guidelines and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from regulatory, auditors and compliance officials.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to interact with hourly employees and upper management to promote ideas and transfer detailed knowledge. Able to respond to stakeholders on common inquiries on most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Excellent communication skills and unique ability to provide direction of technical and complex issues to non-technical personnel in a manner that is fully understood and supported.


  • Able to evaluate chemical, mechanical and control systems to adequately understand and monitor activities and processes relating to our environmental controls, permits and requirements.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.


  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity.
  • Strong self-starting mind-set and team worker.
