Maintenance Supervisor

Located in Fort Smith, AR, under direction of the Fort Smith Maintenance Engineering Leader, the Maintenance Supervisor performs a variety of duties relative to the assessing of technical issues/challenges, and projects, prioritizing repair/project tasks in coordination with other dedicated maintenance assets (Planner & Store Room associate/other Engineers), in scheduling, organizing, and directing the efforts of the Technicians (Mechanical and E & I Technicians) maintenance of all Fort Smith equipment assets to assure efficient operations within operational budgets.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Helps to assess, develop and promotes strict Health and Safety working procedures within the maintenance department and works with the team and other departments to apply and maintain a leading EHS vision as company-wide policy.
• Assesses, prioritizes, schedules, coordinates, and controls maintenance assignments under broad direction of Maintenance Engineering Leader and within authorized annual budget limitations.
• Advises and assists subordinates in carrying out their responsibilities; maintains support/surveillance over job assignments to ensure maximum productivity by maintenance multi-craft technicians.
• Assigns work orders to subordinate technicians and follows up as necessary to ensure successful completion of job tasks.
• Provides mentoring, training, and coaching development to technicians as is necessary.
• Participates with colleagues as necessary in accomplishing/resolving all tasks related to a safe and effective maintenance operations.
• Reviews backlog lists to ensure that downtime hours are utilized for maintenance/engineering work to the fullest extent.
• Ensures a program of regular predictive inspection of company equipment is performed to determine need for adjustment, modification, repairs, replacement, or renovation..
• Cooperates with department Leaders when scheduling repairs to minimize downtime of production equipment.
• Investigates causes of major breakdown issues and recurring problems, then recommends or takes necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.
• Ensures that charges and requisitioning of materials, equipment, and spare parts are assigned to correct cost centers.
• Ensures that all maintenance technicians are properly trained in applicable existing and future Airlaid, mechanical, and electronics technology.
• Coordinates with Site Management and in cooperation with the Maintenance Engineering Leader to determine and prioritize which projects will be recommended for assignment to outside contractors. Monitors work done by outside contractors.
• Reviews and controls maintenance spend and applies best practices to reduce costs.
• Assists with development of annual Maintenance Department operating budget.
• Supports monthly and annual machine shutdowns to respect budgeted downtime and costs.
• Leads in ensuring department policies and practices are adhered to by the team.
• Collaborates with vendors and third-party specialists to obtain the best performance value for Glatfelter.
• Assignments and duties may vary at times.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Associates Degree in Technical Discipline, or 8+ years equivalent, applicable experience
• Minimum 5 years related Hands-On Industrial Technical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of Electronics, programmable controls and sensors, and general mechanical systems.
• Experience in labor relations, management or administration preferred
• Microsoft Office, SAP, PM systems
