Quality Manager

Glatfelter is seeking a Quality Manager for our Mt. Holly, North Carolina, site.  The Quality Manager will lead  the Quality Team and supervise all quality related processes on site, including gathering/analyzing relevant data, developing/executing quality improvement projects, and supporting the Integrated Management System and audit program.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors quality-relevant key figures and implements corrective/preventive measures to improve product quality and secure compliance with quality specifications
  • Develops statistical process controls and monitors performance results with help from operations staff
  • Gathers relevant data and produces statistical reports and trends
  • Defines quality procedures; establishes and maintains controls and documentation procedures
  • Plans, implements, and executes quality improvement projects and for the validation process
  • Develops service processes for active management of internal and external complaints
  • Supports the selection and validation of new and existing suppliers
  • Supports negotiations of quality assurance agreements and specifications with customers and suppliers
  • Ensures that processes needed for the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001 etc.) are established, implemented, and maintained
  • Manages (re-)certification audits and further development of the IMS according to product and/or customer requirements
  • Prepares internal (Glatfelter) and external (suppliers) audit program
  • Supports product innovation initiatives in partnership with product development, production, and sales

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant science (chemistry, biology, physics). Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Internal/external ISO 9001 certification; ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 preferred
  • Strong passion for safety, quality and environmental excellence
  • Outstanding communication skills are required, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated project management and continuous improvement capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to form productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders: internal (employees at all levels) and external (suppliers, customers, competitors, governmental agencies, public)
