Quality Technician

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Technician to join our team at the Caerphilly site in South Wales. This role is crucial to the monitoring of quality across all machines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitoring of quality parameters during working hours across all machines using a Quality Information System (a Live Database), frequent observation on the line and engagement with Operators and Shift Managers
- Supporting the production team with real time decision making
- Sampling, inspection and testing of raw materials, WIP and finished product
- Calibration of scales and other equipment
- Quality investigations for raw materials, customer claims, and process related defects
- Create and send a Certificate of Conformance to customers
- Assessing defective material after production for best use to maximise value to the company
- Checking shipping orders are correct in terms of weights and grade type
- Maintain archives and records for compliance purposes
- Carrying out process audits and logging compliance
Competencies:
- Somebody who understands that Safety is top priority and Quality is a very close second
- A background in quality assurance as well as inspection and testing experience plus experience of creating certificates for orders
- Must be pro-active, and recognise the value in keeping in close contact with the production teams and maintaining feedback channels with interested parties
- Must be interested in looking for improvements in all of our processes, however small they are
- Basic Computer skills, with familiarity of excel spreadsheets
- Experience of internal auditing would be advantageous
