Senior Manager, Tax

Glatfelter is seeking a Senior Manager, Tax, for our Corporate Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.  The Senior Manager, Tax, will be responsible for overseeing global tax processes and people to ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain a strong internal control environment.  This individual will collaborate with the entire Tax Department, other Finance groups, external advisors, and consultants around the world to deliver results the Glatfelter Way.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the preparation of tax forecasting, tax provisions, tax accounting, and tax footnotes reported in public filings (e.g., Forms 10Q and 10K)
  • Provide deep technical guidance and instruction for matters related to ASC 740-Income Taxes, as well as guidance and instruction on the tax accounting processes, procedures and deliverables
  • Work closely with the VP, Tax to establish and drive tax strategies that deliver on company targets for effective and cash tax rates
  • Partner with other finance leaders in the organization including FP&A and our Controller’s groups to obtain necessary data and provide the tax analysis required to support Senior Management in meeting strategic objectives, including acquisition support and tax-related GAAP and non-GAAP financial forecasting and reporting
  • Assist with streamlining and automating tax processes and procedures to improve close cycle times and enhance internal controls by leveraging technology
  • Advise and assist in analyzing, selecting, and implementing software solutions, including process and workflow automation tools

Experience & Education

  • Minimum of eight to ten years of experience, preferably with a combination of public accounting and corporate experience.
  • Three to five years of management experience preferred, with direct/indirect supervisory experience over multiple personnel
  • BS in Accounting and CPA required; MST preferred.
  • Extensive, deep experience in ASC 740-Accounting for Income Taxes and SEC reporting, including consolidating worldwide tax provisions and effective tax rate analysis in a public company context.
  • Broad understanding of all elements of a US-based multi-national corporation including the US tax impacts of international operations, indirect taxes, supply chain optimization, and transfer pricing.
  • Proven leader in process improvement and automation/technology use.
  • Strong tax technology skills. Proficiency in SAP and/or OTP provision software preferred.
  • Strong tax technical skills, including research preferred
  • Analytical thinker and willing to take charge. Able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Pro-active leader with strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
