Environmental

Our concern for the environment guides everything we do. We;

  • Empower employees to take personal responsibility for awareness and control of environmental issues on the job
  • Comply with environmental laws and regulations and voluntary principles to which we subscribe
  • Prevent pollution by using natural resources efficiently, reducing waste, encouraging recycling and reuse, and reducing adverse environmental impacts that may be caused by its operations
  • Maintain and continually improve an environmental management system with the goal of improving environmental performance
  • Purchase wood and natural fibers from sustainably managed sources
  • Consider a company’s environmental management practices as part of our due diligence process when assessing mergers and acquisitions

Health and Safety

Health and Safety are embedded in our core values of integrity, respect for co-workers and social responsibility. We fulfill our commitment by;

  • Developing and implementing a health and safety management system rooted in the principle of continuous improvement of safety performance

Quality, Hygiene and Product Safety

Our quality, hygiene and product safety management systems not only regulate and monitor the conformity of our products, but also ensure that controls are correctly defined and maintained. We maintain good manufacturing practices in order to meet all customer and legal requirements. Our prevention programs are integrated to make sure we exercise all due diligence so that our products meet the required standards.

Glatfelter believes that respect for human rights and ethical business conduct are fundamental to doing sustainable, socially responsible business throughout the world. BRCGS

Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials ensures food safety and quality requirements for packaging manufacturers are met.

EN 15593

EN 15593 is an internationally recognized standard for hygiene management in the food packaging industry. It specifies requirements for manufacturers and suppliers of food packaging, including storage and transportation.

Fine to Flush

Fine to Flush is the new official standard identifying which wet wipes can be flushed down toilets safely.

Food Contact Certificate

ISEGA serves in the fields of material and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.

The Forest Stewardship Council® promotes responsible management of the world’s forests.

GOTS

GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

HACCP

The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point is a system employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to ensure the safety of food procedures and products.

Halal

Halal, meaning “lawful” or “permitted,” indicates which life practices are allowed or not allowed for those who practice Islam (Muslims).

ISO 9001

Requirements for a quality management system for an organization to consistently provide products that meet customer and statutory and regulatory requirements. Aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system.

ISO 14001

Requirements for an environmental management system for an organization to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal and other requirements, and information about significant environmental aspects.

ISO 22000

Helps organizations identify and control food safety hazards. Applicable to all types of producer, ISO 22000 provides a layer of reassurance within the global food supply chain.

ISO 22716 GMP

ISO 22716:2007 gives guidelines for the production, control, storage and shipment of cosmetic products.

ISO 45001

Builds on the success of earlier international standards in this area, such as OHSAS 18001. Provides a framework of requirements for organizations to develop and implement a policy and objectives for improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions.

ISO 50001

Provides a framework of requirements for organizations to develop and implement a policy and objectives surrounding energy management.

OEKO-TEX

All types of textiles that have been tested for harmful substances, from yarns to the finished product may bear the STANDARD 100 product label.

OHSAS 18001

Compatible with the ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) management systems standards, OHSAS enables an organization to control its occupational health and safety (OHS) risks and improve its performance. Also see ISO 45001.

OK BIODEGRADABLE SOIL

The OK biodegradable SOIL label is a guarantee a product will completely biodegrade in the soil without adversely affecting the environment.

OK Compost Home

TÜV AUSTRIA’s OK compost HOME guarantees complete biodegradability in the light of specific requirements, even in your garden compost heap.

OK Compost Industrial

Packaging or products featuring the OK compost INDUSTRIAL label are guaranteed as biodegradable in an industrial composting plant. 

PEFC

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes provides assurance that wood and natural fibers come from ecologically, socially and economically sustainable forests.

Rainforest Alliance Certified

Rainforest Alliance certification indicates that a farm, forest, or enterprise has been audited to meet standards that require environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Seedling

With both the OK compost INDUSTRIAL and the Seedling logo, compostable products can receive recognition throughout the entire European market.

SFI®

The Sustainable Forestry Inititative® ensures wood and natural fiber-based products come from well-managed forests.
